Thymus vulgaris is still found in its natural state on the warm, sunny slopes of the Mediterranean Basin. It was brought to Europe in the 11th century by the Benedictines. Its high thymol content lends it disinfectant and vermifuge properties. Its infusion has natural expectorant, antispasmodic and digestive properties.
